A memorandum submitted to the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh
Burhanpur, Madhya Pradesh.
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav arrived in Burhanpur, where he performed the groundbreaking ceremony for development projects worth ₹696 crore after a road show. Following Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav’s program at Nehru Stadium, a delegation of journalists, led by Shakeel Khan, District President of the Indian Journalist Association, Burhanpur, met the Chief Minister and submitted a memorandum, urging immediate action on five-point demands related to the welfare and safety of journalists.
The Indian Journalist Association clarified through the memorandum that journalists serve as an important bridge between the government and the public. They play a crucial role in strengthening the democratic system, and therefore, it is the government’s responsibility to ensure their social and economic security. A dedicated journalist colony should be developed for journalists and housing should be provided to them at affordable rates. Following the “Ladli Behna Yojana,” journalists should also be provided financial assistance of ₹15,000 per month. Journalists and their families should be provided free treatment (cashless treatment) in private hospitals.
A special “Journalists’ Protection Act” should be implemented in the state to prevent violence and obstruction against journalists. Strict legal action should be taken against those who intimidate or make false allegations against them.
Shakeel Khan, District President of Indian Journalist Association, expressed confidence that the Chief Minister will take a positive decision on these demands, taking into account the role of journalists and their need for respect. The Chief Minister has also taken the memorandum seriously and assured appropriate consideration. This initiative is being appreciated by journalists across the district, as it directly concerns the future of journalists and the security of their workplace.
Several senior journalists from the district, including Rahul Ingle, Sheikh Wasim Sumesh Tayde, Rafiq Ansari, Mohammad Imran, Gokul Khandle, Sonu Sohale, and Deepak Sohale, were present at the memorandum submission.
